DMCC – St. Eustache

It was a pretty amazing couple days in St. Eustache. We left on the Saturday convoying with our friend from drift posse, Pat Cyr, and Brad Carlton we rolled into a shady motel around midnight and got ready for the next day of drifting fun. It was a very cold and wet day to say the least, but none the less we made the best of it and tore up the track. The layout at the venue this year was the first for every driver at the track, a nice way to level the playing field. With both Chris and Cody doing well in the day during practice it came time for qualifying and of course problems arising. Cody’s clutch decided it was best to start to slip and Chris’ car deciding to randomly lose power it was going to be an interesting show. With the competition being so steep we had some work to do and we did our best trying to get it done. Chris spun his first run but made a great second run trying to clinch the last qualifying spot. Cody and his temper mental clutch decided to work for a while together. His first run wasn’t bad but not great but his second run was killer. Cody made it past qualifying but Chris unfortunately didnt due to car problems. Cody’s ran his top 16 run against Miroslav Ovcharik. His first run went awesome Miro had spun out and Cody was coasting through the course. The second run didn’t go as well as both drivers had a wicked entry, Cody spun during a transition in the course. It was a great weekend either way and a ton of fun. We want to thank our friends from drift posse for showing us the hot spots in St Eustache. Cant wait for next year!!!

DMCC Mosport

With a whole new track lay out this year it was going to be an interesting day at the track. Our two drivers were excited to compete in their first Canadian Pro Series event of the year. With both of there cars getting dialled in during practice and the rain looking like it was going to hold up we were ready for the qualification round. Cody and Chris made solid attempts at their first runs with a few mistakes. Cody’s second run was amazing, really aggressive through the first two clipping points and a real crowd pleaser. Chris’ second run was very technical and smooth throughout, he made it look easy to the fans. When it came down to judging Cody was 1km/h shy of making it into the top 16 and Chris qualified 13th. Chris gave it his all for the 2 tandem runs but fell a little short. All in all a great weekend, and a top 16 finish for our driver Chris St. John.

S1DC Smokes Out Ontario Place

Being up for 4am is never fun for anyone but when you know your going to be on TV you get a little more excited to get outta bed. We were on the road for 4:30 and finally got to Ontario place for 6am. With the sun coming up we unloaded the cars and set up for the show. It was a great time all morning with the host of Breakfast Television Hugh Burril and trying to show him some techniques to the sport. He was a little slow to start but by the end of it (with the help of Brad Carlton and Carl Nadeau) he got a few clean doughnuts out of Brad’ s and Cody’s cars. Chris and Cody got some great tandem runs in while voice of CSCS Edmund and host Hugh talked about what the sport of drifting was and where it was going. With only a tiny incident involving Toronto’s finest apparently all the tire smoke and engines roaring the poor yacht club owners couldn’t sleep so well. Altogether a great day, special thanks to Breakfast Television/CityTV, President of DMCC, Brad Carlton, and Carl Nadeau.

S1DC Tandem Drifting on CityTv!

Just received an email from the President of DMCC asking Chris St. John and Cody Loughhead if they were interested in doing a live TV interview and some tandem drifting to promote this weekends DMCC event at Mosport International Raceway. They didn’t hesitate for one second, so you can catch S1DC on Breakfast Television this Friday August 12th between 6:30am to 9:00am. So pumped for the TV debut!!

Back From Charlotte

What a weekend! On the road at 6am and after almost 24 hours of driving, popping a trailer tire, blowing the rad on the ambulance and long weekend traffic (just to mention a couple) we make it to Charlotte around 3am. At the track by 8am for practice and the track is a spectacle in itself and is by far the nicest track S1DC has drifted on thus far. The drift course is lead with a big ol` 4^th gear sweeper into some crazy S turns. On the second day our pro drivers really gave it their all but went up against some stiff competition and didn’t make it past a tough qualifying round. Overall it was a great experience and hope to head back to North Carolina again next year with even better results. Congratulations to Dave Briggs (fellow Canadian)for making it to top 8 and to Chelsea DeNofa for taking home the win.

Charlotte Motor Speedway

This weekend Cody and Chris take to the stage again as we hit up Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. This place is not only the same track that the NASCAR racers used but apparently home to the world’s largest HD TV. The competition should be just as steep as the West Virginia event especially since there isn’t a DMCC event on the same weekend. If all goes well with Chris’s new Frankenstein transmission and Cody’s new tune pumping out 350whp and 360ft-lbs of torque it’s going to be one hell of a show.

Summit Point Motorsports Park

S1dc back from Summit Point Motorsports Park

What a weekend, after hitting up all the stops on the way down we finally rolled into town at 3am and were race ready and at the track from 8am. Our 2 pro drivers were pumped up and ready to grab some gears and light’em up. Summit Point is a track and a half with a full sweeper taking you all the way up to 4th gear our drivers knew it was going to be a tough day. After a long day of practice it was time for qualifying, Cody made a solid first run but spun on his second and Chris made a it look easy around the track his first time around before the exedy twin plate clutch became too much for his transmission to handle and broke 3rd gear. All in all, we met some great people, drove a sick track, and had an amazing time doing it.

XDC – Summit Point
